Yakuza

Yakuza (や??? or ヤクザ) also known as gokudou, are members of traditional organized crime groups that originate from Japan. In Japanese legal terminology, yakuza organizations are referred to as boryokudan (暴力団, “violence groups”), which more traditional “samurai heritage” Yakuza members consider an insult as boroyokudan is applied to any violent criminal.

Unlike many organized crime groups, like the Triads and the Mafia, which evolved from secret societies, the model of the Yakuza was the machi yakko (町奴, “town servant”), vigilantes protectors within the community (Although many citizens also view them as kabukimono or crazy ones, for their propensity toward violence, vulgar slang, and bizarre appearance) or the masterless samurai ronin. As a result, at least in the JIS and it’s protectorates, Yakuza groups maintain open offices, often with a wooden plank on the front door displaying the group name and their emblem. Yakuza members often wear sunglasses and flashy suits so that their profession can be immediately recognized by civilians (堅気, katagi). Members typically wear insignia pins on their suits, and, if needed, can display their tattoos or customized cyberware.

Organization and Activities

The Yakuza group are typically headed by the Oyabun (親分, “father” or “boss”) or Kumicho (組長, “family head”), who issues orders to his subordinates, the kobun (?分, “children”). This is a variation of the traditional Japanese social heirarchal structure of senpai-kohai (Senior-Junior). There are some exceptions to this, such as the Inagawa-kai, which operates with multiple kumicho, all of which share equal power within the organization.

A Yakuza members connection within the organization is based off the place in the order of the sakazuki (?事, “sake sharing”) ritual. The sakazuki ritual is sharing the sake from a single cup with another, and comes from the traditional practice of a Shinto wedding. Kumicho are the top of the organization, and control saiko-komon (最?顧?, “senior advisors”). The saiko-komon are responsible for their own turf in different cities or regions, and have their own underlings, like underbosses, advisors, accountants, and enforcers. Those who receive sake directly from the kumicho are consider the “immediate family” and are ranked in term of elder or younger brothers. However, each kobun, in turn, can offer sakazuki as if they where the kumicho to his underlings to form an affiliated organization, which might in turn form lower rank organizations.

Yakuza refer to each other as if they where family members, such as fathers, elder and younger brothers. However, contray to Western belief, blood relation is not necessary for membership into the Yakuza, as it is with the Mafia, and the Yakuza accept non-Japanese members, such as Korean-Japanese, into their ranks. Many Yakuza members cut all family ties upon joining the organization and immediately transfer loyalty to the kumicho. The Yakuza group replaces the family in the lives of it’s members.

Most Yakuza organizations are usually referred to using the number of generations or times the oyabun or kumicho has been replaced, either through retirement or death, as a measure of the age of that group. For example, in 1984, the 4th Yamaguchi-gumi was formed when Takenaka Masahisa became the new oyabun following a bloody succession from the 3rd Yamaguchi-gumi, headed by Taoka Kazuo. Takenaka was killed in 1985, and in 1989, the 5th Yamaguchi-gumi was formed when Watanabe Yoshinori took control as the organization’s fifth oyabun.

Tokyo Crazy Paradise

I’ve finished reading this manga

Plot/Story
The child of murdered cops and the head of a large and powerful yakuza group, Tsukasa Kozuki and Ryuji Shirogami are fourteen year old classmates and enemies. Tsukasa has been raised as a boy to avoid the senseless violence against women that is normal in Tokyo II but when her parents die she turns to Ryuji, tricking him into giving food for her and her brothers. Ryuji turns the tables on her and through a series of unfortunate events, Tsukasa ends up being millions of yen in debt to Ryuji. In the end, Tsukasa ends up working as a bodyguard for Ryuji until every yen is paid back. The adventures that follow are what makes this a perfect 10 manga.

Characters
Tsukasa – The protagonist of this manga, Tsukasa is one of the best heroines I’ve ever seen. She is strong with a huge sense of justice and undeniable loyalty to her friends. Her struggle between becoming a woman or staying a boy, loyalty of the yakuza or to the police, and her growing romantic feelings for Ryuji make her an amazing person.

Ryuji – “Gokudo to the bone,” one character noted about Ryuji. Ryuji at 14, is the Sandaime of Kuryugumi. The manga balances the trials of being Sandaime with his own subdued desires of being a child, desires that only come forth when he is with Tsukasa. Ryuji also grows as he learns to balance the desires of Asago, his fiancee, with his feelings for Tsukasa.

The supporting cast of Kamojima, Asago, ‘Akira, Taku-nii’, Sho, Toshi and all the rest is not to be missed.

Drawing Style
Pretty good, it’s nothing excellent but it goes very well with the story. The fighting scenes were done pretty well in my opinion. I suppose my biggest problem is that as some have also said, some characters are drawn to similarly for my liking.

Overall
This is a manga not to be missed. There are drugs, killers, robots, and so much more in this story. 2020 Tokyo is a dystopia but there are still a few people willing to stand up for what they believe in. If you’re a fan of a strong heroine, a great storyline full of humor, betrayal, sadness and so much more, go read TCP now!

Storyline[taken from the main webpage]

It was a clear, crisp day aboard the luxury cruise ship Oceanic Star. The massive ship cut through the indigo water with precision on her way around the world. Tourists aboard enjoyed the weather on deck by sunbathing or frolicking in the warm pool. It was a day like any other for them, carefree and relaxed, but all was not as it seemed…
A sharp sound split the air and a shudder resounded throughout the ship. Deck chairs overturned, and sunbathers were thrown roughly to the deck amid a tangle of gear, people and personal items. The people aboard were in a state of panic. What could have happened? The well trained crew tried to regain order and, following orders from the Captain, began moving the passengers to the lifeboats.
Chaos ensued as passengers realized that their worst fears had been realized…the ship was going down.
As they boarded the lifeboats and paddled away, a sense of panic began to overcome them and many passed out from the exertion. Upon awakening they found they had been stranded on an isolated island with nothing and no one else around except for a few shattered remains of the ship and a few boxes of supplies.
If these strangers are to survive this ordeal they must put aside their petty differences and work together. A few survivors set out to gather any resources they could find on the island. In doing this they began to see that this island was not as barren as they thought and was full of life and resources that, properly used, might help them make their way back home. This is where you join them. Let the adventure begin…

Breaking the habit -Linkin Park

Woot i love this music! Listen to it!

“Breaking The Habit”

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I’m picking me apart again
You all assume
I’m safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

[Bridge:]
I don’t want to be the one
The battles always choose
‘Cause inside I realize
That I’m the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don’t know what’s worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don’t know why I instigate
And say what I don’t mean
I don’t know how I got this way
I know it’s not alright
So I’m breaking the habit
I’m breaking the habit
Tonight

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again

[Bridge:]
I dont want to be the one
The battles always choose
‘Cause inside I realize
That I’m the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don’t know what’s worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don’t know why I instigate
And say what I don’t mean
I don’t know how I got this way
I’ll never be alright
So, I’m breaking the habit
I’m breaking the habit
Tonight

[Bridge:]
I’ll paint it on the walls
‘Cause I’m the one at fault
I’ll never fight again
And this is how it ends

[Chorus:]
I don’t know what’s worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
to show you what I mean
I don’t know how I got this way
I’ll never be alright
So, I’m breaking the habit
I’m breaking the habit
I’m breaking the habit
Tonight

Gimmie a break!

Last week in school, a friend of mine got so worked up because they lose something. He go to the extreme of injuring himself. Being a friend of his, I wish i could pity his attitude, but i cant. Because what he just did was plain childish! People who know im a close friend of him started to ask, what happen to him. I wish I could tell the truth but i cant. One person come up to me and say “He’s really childish” I manage to defend saying not all the time, but that person insist that he is very childish not just that day, but many other days. Deep down, i know its true, but i just couldnt say it out.

Yea I felt really ashamed to think about it when I know Im being dragging into this kind of situation. Saying things like that to me is like telling me I’m making friends with the wrong person. I find it really irritating and embarrassed to think that people related me to that incident. And till now its being dragging on in my mind. If someone could just gimmie a break……………………..

On the other hand………

I’ve met m’sia 1st astronaut in st nicholas 2 weeks ago. Well maybe its not cool to meet m’sia one compare to the others, but i guess its better then not meeting anyone before. Its really an honor to be chosen by mr raymond to bring us there. I was pretty happy i get the chance to get out of school, and away form tension as well. Me, Khee Ping and Taka enjoy the small jokes we had and the talk given by him.

In the middle between the week, we had out scouts training camp. Whoa! Tiring! but worth it. At least I dun feel so much a sissy as i was previously. I dun mind getting slightly dirty and enjoy building gadget. Its fun but really really tiring.

ANother part was the robotics competition on wednesday last week. We managed to skip school whole day. yay! And enjoy playing around. Yes we did not won anything, but the fact is we get to leave school and actually enjoy ourself playing with the computer and lego set. Its fun and entertaining. Came back pretty late though.

lastly……….

I’ve been really stress and tension the past few weeks. My results has gone bad and people around me is starting to bug me and straining me. SOme people even pull me down by making me unhappy and moody. Time for me to learn some control. Im gonna off my phone for a long long long time. Only to turn it on on friday or training camps. Next friday, scout again!

And o ya i forgot to say, Im NOT IN A  GOOD MOOD SO DUN EVEN TRY TO GET ON MY NERVES!

Dummies!

O gosh…I’ve just being informed one friend of mine is unable to join in th e competition….I dunno but if thats the case its either the dream of going for the competition is cancel or no more. Haiz just when I’ve really been expecting it….guess its juz fate.

I’ve been so freaking pressured since yesterday. In school so many stuff to do, so many projects to be hand out. Lots of useless jobs for me to complete. And worst of all teachers are pressuring me to do their work. Collecting books, demanding everyone to pass up the books, pressuring me to make the rest pass up books [which is a dam painful work to do as most people don't bother to finish their homework] and worst still, homework pilling up so high that i hardly managed to finish the previous ones. School’s getting dull with all those gossiping around, but i can manage it and so.

But what I simple hate most is…..the rich man’s attitude of some people. Arggh…. I cant bare it!!!!! I got so pissed off when these people talk like they own the whole world. Just because of money, you think you own the whole world? NAYY!!! Your just acting like a PAMPERED,SPOLIED, USELESS,HOPELESS, RUBBISH OF THE SOCIETY CHILD.

I cant stand it!

Sinopsis
